Damian Collins, Conservative MP for Folkestone and Hythe, opened an adjournment debate on first world war commemoration. The hundredth anniversary of the outbreak of the first world war will fall in August 2014.

Adjournment debates allow the Commons to hold a general open-ended debate on a subject or a government policy without reaching a formal decision about it.
