Commons debate prevention and suppression of terrorism

Home Secretary, Theresa May, moved a debate in the House of Commons on 14 July to approve the draft Terrorism Act 2006 (Disapplication of Section 25) Order 2010. The draft Order continues the maximum period of detention of a terrorist suspect, which is set at 28 days, for six months with effect from 25 July 2010

Debates are an opportunity for MPs to discuss government policy, proposed new laws and current issues. It allows MPs to voice the concerns and interests of their constituents.
