Lord Livsey of Talgarth dies

The death has been announced of Lord Livsey of Talgarth. The Liberal Democrat life Peer died on 15 September, aged 75

Elected MP for Brecon and Radnorshire from 1985 to 1992, Richard Livsey was leader of the Liberal Democrat Party in Wales from 1988 to 1992. He lost his seat in 1992, but regained it in 1997 and became Liberal Democrat Shadow Welsh Secretary.

Richard Livsey stood down as MP in 2001 on becoming a Member of the House of Lords.

Lord Livsey was a Trustee of the Campaign for the Protection of Rural Wales, chairman of the Brecon Jazz Festival and a member of Talgarth Male Choir. He helped found the Welsh Agricultural College, lecturing there in farm management from 1971 to 1985.
