Members of the House of Lords debated the importance of government strategies to tackle human trafficking on Thursday 14 October

Baroness Massey of Darwen (Labour) opened the debate.  Other Members participating in the debate included:

  • Baroness Butler-Sloss (Crossbench), former Lord Justice of Appeal and a trustee of the Human Trafficking Foundation

  • Lord Dubs (Labour), former chief executive of the Refugee Council
  • Lord Bew (Crossbench), chairman of the British-Irish Association and professor of politics at Queen’s University, Belfast
  • Baroness Gould of Potternewton (Labour), chair of the Women’s National Commission
  • Lord Laming (Crossbench), former chief inspector of the Social Services Inspectorate at the Department of Health
  • Lord Roberts of Llandudno (Liberal Democrat), former president of the Welsh Liberal Democrats

Lord McColl of Dulwich, Lord Luke, Lord Sheikh and Lord Hunt of Kings Heath also took part in the debate.  Lord de Mauley spoke on behalf of the Government.
