Announcement of Black Rod's resignation

The Leader of the House of Lords, Lord Strathclyde announced on 28 October that Sir Freddie Viggers has resigned as Black Rod.

Until a successor is appointed by the House the Yeoman Usher, Lieutenant Colonel Ted Lloyd-Jukes, will continue as acting Black Rod.

The post of Black Rod combines security responsibilities with royal and ceremonial/events duties within the House of Lords.
