Strategic Defence and Security Review
The Government published its Strategic Defence and Security Review on Tuesday 19 October.
The review included the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces, the UK's diplomatic network, the intelligence agencies, security elements of the Home Office's work, such as counter-terrorism, and the UK's support for international development where it is also contributing to international security and stability.
The Strategic Defence and Security Review was overseen by the National Security Council. The National Security Council was established in May 2010 to coordinate the Government's international security agenda.
On Monday 18 October the Government published its National Security Strategy.
