Speaking clearly, researching your subject and showing respect were among the top communication tips Year Six pupils shared with the Lord Speaker on a visit to the Olympic Park on Tuesday 9 November.

The nine and 10 year olds from local schools were taking part in an Olympic Delivery Authority Construction Crew workshop on leadership and responsibility, which focused on communication skills and the qualities of good leaders.

As well as sharing tips on speaking skills Baroness Hayman answered questions about her role as Lord Speaker and the contribution the House of Lords makes to the work of Parliament.

The visit is part of the House of Lords outreach programme which aims to connect communities with the Lords, raising awareness of its role shaping the laws and policies that affect them.
