New Member introduced to Lords

Crossbench life Peer Baroness Hollins took her seat in the House of Lords following a short introduction ceremony at the beginning of business on Monday 15 November.
Baroness Hollins is Professor in Psychiatry of Disability at St George´s, University of London. Her research has focussed on clinical and social aspects of the mental and physical health of people with learning disabilities. She is chair of the World Health Organisation Steering Group, which is developing a declaration and action plan on the health of children and young people with intellectual disabilities.
The introduction ceremony must take place in the Lords Chamber before each new Member is able to take their seat in the House.
During the ceremony, new Members either swear an oath or solemnly affirm their allegiance to the Queen. They also sign an undertaking to abide by the House of Lords Code of Conduct.
