The House of Lords continued its line by line examination of the Public Bodies Bill during the second day of committee stage on Monday 29 November

The Public Bodies Bill grants new powers to allow Ministers to abolish, merge or transfer functions of public bodies.
During the debate on the amendments to the Bill, Members of the House of Lords voted against an amendment from Lord Borrie to protect the Administrative Justice and Tribunals Council by removing it from the list of potential bodies to be abolished – 147 votes to 156.

The committee stage of the Public Bodies Bill continues on Wednesday 1 December when further amendments will be discussed.
