Joseph Johnson, Conservative MP for Orpington, moved a debate in Westminster Hall on Tuesday 21 December 2010 on the subject of the effects of internet technologies on diplomacy.

With reference to the Wikileaks website and the thousands of cables it published, the debate aimed to open a discussion on implications for the future of diplomacy.

Westminster Hall debates

Westminster Hall adjournment debates allow MPs to discuss issues of local or personal interest which rarely have time to be debated in the main Chamber of the House of Commons. MPs can discuss a variety of issues and receive a response from a government Minister.
