Statement on European Council

Prime Minister, David Cameron, made a statement to the House of Commons on Monday 20 December on the European Council. The Prime Minister updated MPs on the meeting of EU heads of state and government that took place in Brussels on 16-17 December.

EU heads of state and government agreed unanimously on the draft decision to introduce a limited Treaty amendment, which will allow member states of the euro area to establish a permanent mechanism to safeguard the financial stability of the eurozone as a whole.
