Statement on High Speed Rail

Secretary of State for Transport, Philip Hammond, made a statement to the House of Commons on Monday 20 December on the Government's plans for a high-speed rail network and the proposed route. The Government have announced that the proposed route will be put forward for public consultation next year.

High Speed 2
High Speed 2 (HS2) is a proposed high-speed railway providing new services between London and Scotland.
The project is being developed by High Speed Two (HS2) Ltd, a company established by the Government in January 2009.
