Debate on plans for a high-speed rail network

Kelvin Hopkins, Labour MP for Luton North, moved a Backbench Business debate in Westminster Hall on Thursday 31 March on the subject of high-speed rail.
High Speed 2
High Speed 2 (HS2) is a proposed high-speed railway providing new services between London and Scotland.
The project is being developed by High Speed Two (HS2) Ltd, a company established by the Government in January 2009.
Minister of State for Rail, Theresa Villiers, responded to the debate on behalf of the Government.
