The death of Lord Boston of Faversham has been announced. The Crossbench life peer died on 23 July 2011 aged 81

Terence Boston QC entered the House of Lords in 1976. Lord Boston held a number of posts in the Lords including:

  • Minister of State, Home Office 1979
  • Opposition Spokesman for Home Office Affairs 1979-84 and defence 1984-86
  • Principal Deputy Chairman of Committees 1992-1994
  • Chairman of Committees 1994-1997, 1997-2000
  • Lords' Member, Parliamentary Broadcasting Unit Limited 1994-97, 1997-2000
  • Deputy Speaker 1991-2008
  • Deputy Chairman of Committees 2001-08.

Lord Boston was Labour MP for Faversham in Kent from 1964-70.
