EU Council statement

Prime Minister, David Cameron, made a statement in the House of Commons on Monday 12 December on the EU Council meeting that took place on 8-9 December in Brussels.
EU Council
The European Council defines the general political direction and priorities of the European Union. The European Council consists of the Heads of State or Government of the 27 Member States, together with its President and the President of the Commission.
The meeting concluded with 17 members of the euro area and several other EU countries ready to participate in the new fiscal compact and engage in a significantly stronger coordination of economic policies. Further information on the meeting can be found on the European Council website.
