British Embassy in Tehran statement

Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, William Hague, made a statement in the House of Commons on Wednesday 30 November on the attack on the British embassy in Tehran, Iran.

The Foreign Secretary's statement follows the vandalisation and looting of the British Embassy compound that took place on Tuesday 29 November. In response, the Government has announced the closure of the Iranian embassy in London and that all Iranian diplomatic staff must leave the United Kingdom.
Shadow Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Douglas Alexander, responded to the statement on behalf of the Opposition.
