Statement on EU Council and North Africa

The Prime Minister, David Cameron, made a statement to the House of Commons on Monday 7 February on the European Council meeting and the review by the Cabinet Secretary of the papers relating to the release of Abdelbaset al-Megrahi.
Lockerbie
Abdelbaset al-Megrahi was convicted of the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland in December 1988.
European Council meeting
The Prime Minister also outlined European Council discussions on three issues: efforts to tackle instability in the Eurozone, the role of energy and innovation in delivering a comprehensive growth strategy for the EU and the situation in Egypt. The European Council meeting took place on Friday 4 February 2011.
