16 February 2011 (updated on 16 February 2011)
Secretary of State for Defence, Dr Liam Fox, responded to an urgent question asked by Jim Murphy, Shadow Secretary of State for Defence, on the subject of redundancies in the Ministry of Defence.
The question follows the revelation that members of the Armed Forces have been made redundant by email. The rationale and implications of the range of redundancies within the armed forces was also discussed.

Urgent questions
Urgent questions are asked at the end of Question Time. If something has happened, normally a matter of public importance, which an MP believes requires an immediate answer from a government minister, he may apply to the Speaker to ask an urgent question.
If the Speaker agrees, the question will be asked at the end of Question Time.
