Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Richard Benyon, responded to an urgent question asked by Mary Creagh, Labour MP for Wakefield, on the Government’s flood defence allocations for 2011-12.

Urgent questions

Urgent questions are asked at the end of Question Time. If something has happened, usually a matter of public importance, which an MP believes requires an immediate answer from a government minister, he may apply to the Speaker to ask an urgent question.

If the Speaker agrees, the question will be asked at the end of Question Time.
