Andrew Selous, Conservative MP for South West Bedfordshire, moved a debate in Westminster Hall on Tuesday 18 January 2010 on the subject of the operation of the funding formula for England and the devolved administrations.

Funding formula

The funding formula, also known as the Barnett formula, determines how central government funds are proportionally divided between England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Westminster Hall debates

Westminster Hall adjournment debates allow MPs to discuss issues of local or personal interest which rarely have time to be debated in the main Chamber of the House of Commons. MPs can discuss a variety of issues and receive a response from a government Minister.
