Baroness Rawlings repeated a Government statement on phone hacking and the media in the House of Lords on Monday 11 July

The Government announced two independent inquiries following the phone hacking allegations on Friday 8 July.
Baroness Scotland of Asthal, shadow Attorney General, responded on behalf of the Opposition.
Lord Fowler, former journalist and former chair of the Lords Communications Committee; Lord Lawson of Blaby, a former journalist and newspaper editor; Lord Grocott, a former television producer; Baroness Bonham-Carter of Yarnbury, a former television editor, asked questions.
Baroness O'Neill of Bengarve, Lord Crickhowell, Lord Kinnock, and Lord Soley, who introduced a Bill on the freedom and responsibility of the press in 1993, also asked questions.
