Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Chris Huhne, made a statement in the House of Commons on Tuesday 12 July on reforming the electricity market.
Electricity Market Reform White Paper
The Electricity Market Reform White Paper published by the Department for Energy and Climate Change sets out key measures to attract investment, reduce the impact on consumer bills, and create a secure mix of electricity sources including gas, new nuclear, renewables and carbon capture and storage.
The Department also published a Renewables Roadmap alongside the white paper and this outlines a plan of action to accelerate renewable energy deployment.
