Shadow Secretary of State for Health, John Healey, responded to the statement on behalf of the opposition. Watch and read the statement and the views expressed by MPs on Parliament TV and in Commons Hansard.

The statement follows the publication of the Dilnot Commission Report, Fairer Care Funding on 4 July 2011.

The independent commission, set up by the Government in July 2010, was asked to recommend a fair and sustainable funding system for adult social care in England. Further information on the Dilnot Commission can be found on the Department of Health website.
