Malcolm Bruce, Liberal Democrat MP for Gordon, moved a debate in Westminster Hall on the future of the CDC (formerly the Commonwealth Development Corporation)

The debate received a response from Secretary of State for International Development, Andrew Mitchell.

The CDC is the Government's development finance institution and has a remit to generate funds to invest in poorer nations.

Westminster Hall debates provide MPs with an opportunity to debate local or national, sometimes international issues, and to receive a response from a government Minister.

Westminster Hall debates

Westminster Hall adjournment debates allow MPs to discuss issues of local or personal interest which rarely have time to be debated in the main Chamber of the House of Commons.

MPs can discuss a variety of issues and receive a response from a government Minister.
