The event was one of a number of events taking place in Parliament that day to mark  the contribution volunteer Scout leaders make to communities across the country.

The reception was attended by adult volunteers, youth members and MPs.

Among those representing the Scout Association were Derek Twine CBE, chief executive of the Scout Association and Professor Sir Alan Craft, Chair of the Scout Association and Wayne Bulpitt, UK Chief Commissioner.

Commenting on the event, Mr Hoyle, Chairman of Ways and Means, said: "I was both honoured and privileged to meet young men and women from The Scout Association, and the volunteers who give up their time to help them, at the event in Speaker's House.

"They are already contributing so much to their communities and to the country, and I have every confidence that they will go on to do so in many ways and walks of life."
