Appointment of the new Clerk of the House of Commons and Chief Executive

Mr Speaker has informed the House that the Queen has been pleased to approve that Robert Rogers be appointed Clerk of the House of Commons in succession to Sir Malcolm Jack, the current Clerk of the House and Chief Executive, who is retiring on 30 September 2011.
The appointment of Mr Rogers followed an open competition and interview by a panel of senior members of the House of Commons (the Speaker, the Leader of the House of Commons, the Shadow Leader of the House of Commons, the Chair of the Finance and Services Committee, the Chairman of Ways and Means and the Chair of the Liaison Committee), along with one external member.
Sir Malcolm Jack KCB has been Clerk of the House since 2006.
