Speaker Bercow welcomes Governor Patrick to Parliament

The Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow, met Governor Deval Patrick of Massachusetts at the Speaker’s House on Wednesday 16 March during a lunch organised by the British-American Parliamentary Group.
Governor Patrick was visiting London as part of a Massachusetts Innovation Economy Partnership Mission, focusing on jobs and investment opportunities, which was organised in association with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The Governor was accompanied by a coalition of the state’s leading business executives and senior government officials.
Joining the Governor and the rest of the delegation for the lunch were Brian Donohoe MP, the honorary secretary of the British-American Parliamentary Group, the Rt. Hon. Greg Knight MP, the Rt. Hon. John Spellar MP, Julian Huppert MP, Rachel Reeves MP, Austin Mitchell MP and Mike Freer MP.
Governor Patrick is a graduate of Harvard College and of Harvard Law School. In 1994, President Clinton appointed him as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, the nation's top civil rights post. He was first elected as Governor of Massachusetts in 2006, and was re-elected in 2010.
