Mr Speaker answers sixth formers’ questions

Mr Speaker visited The Boswells School in Chelmsford, Essex, to meet sixth-form students, many of them studying A-level politics, and take questions about his role in Parliament.
After a short talk about his work and role in the House of Commons, Mr Speaker answered questions from the sixth formers present.
Among other topics, Mr Speaker was asked about impartiality in the chair, the promotion of democracy in countries such as Libya and the most enjoyable part of his role.
The school was holding a non-uniform day on Friday 11th March to support two charities: Barrow Farm Riding for the Disabled and the Scott Hardy Foundation. The latter is a memorial charity for one of The Boswells' ex-students who was killed in service in Afghanistan.
The Speaker made the visit to The Boswells School as part of the ongoing Speaker's school visits programme.
