Statement on Japan and the Middle East

Prime Minister, David Cameron, made a statement to the House of Commons on Monday 14 March on the current crisis facing Japan following the earthquake and tsunami, and the onging conflict in Libya.
Japan
The Prime Minister told the House of Commons that the UK had offered humanitarian assistance and that, at the request of the Japanese Government, a 63-strong UK search and rescue team had been deployed.
Concern about the situation at the nuclear power station at Fukushima was also discussed.
The Middle East
The statement then went on to inform the House of Commons about the humanitarian situation in Libya and the British nationals who remain in that country.
The Leader of the Opposition, Ed Miliband, responded on behalf of the Opposition to the statement.
