Statement on Libya and the European Council

Prime Minister, David Cameron, made a statement to the House of Commons on Monday 28 March on the current situation in Libya and the European Council meeting held on 24 and 25 March.

Libya

The Prime Minister updated the House of Commons on the implementation of the no-fly zone across Libya. MPs were also informed that NATO has taken on command and control of Libyan operations.

European Council meeting

The Prime Minister also outlined discussions held at the spring summit of the European Council on economic issues and how the EU can help Japan recover following the earthquake and tsunami.

The Leader of the Opposition, Edward Miliband, responded on behalf of the Opposition to the statement.
