24 May 2011
Attorney-General, Dominic Grieve, responded to an urgent question asked by John Whittingdale, Chairman of the Culture, Media and Sport Committee, on the granting and enforcement of privacy injunctions.
The key issues raised were on conflicts of freedom of speech, Parliamentary privilege and privacy laws (injunctions).
MPs also highlighted the impact of social media and the internet on issues of privacy.
Watch and read the urgent question and the views expressed by MPs on Parliament TV and in Commons Hansard.

This Urgent Question also made reference to a report chaired by Master of the Rolls on 'Super-injunctions'.
Master of the Rolls
The Master of the Rolls is the title of an English Judge ranking immediately below the Lord Chief Justice.
He presides over the Court of Appeal and is responsible for the records or 'rolls' of the Chancery Court.
Urgent questions
Urgent questions are asked at the end of Question Time. If something has happened, normally a matter of public importance, which an MP believes requires an immediate answer from a government minister, they may apply to the Speaker to ask an urgent question.
If the Speaker agrees, the question will be asked at the end of Question Time.
