House of Lords back to business today

The House of Lords is back to work today (Monday 21 November) following a short recess.
The House sits at 2.30pm this afternoon with business in the chamber including:
- Oral Questions: probing the Government on issues including national early diagnosis campaigns for serious diseases, children’s public service channels, international development funds and the current situation in Syria
- third reading of the London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (Amendment) Bill: a final chance for the Lords to change the Bill
- the main debate on the key principles and purpose of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Bill, and
- the fifteenth day of line by line examination of the Welfare Reform Bill.
House of Lords committees will continue their scrutiny this week of:
- financial transaction tax
- the future of investigative journalism
- the role of Chief Scientific Advisers
- the judicial appointments process
- EU freshwater policy
- the EU drugs strategy
- the modernisation of higher education in Europe: the EU contribution.
