The Backbench Business Committee scheduled two debates in the House of Commons on Thursday 24 November on BAE Systems and manufacturing.

BAE Systems

David Davis, Conservative MP for Haltemprice and Howden, moved a Backbench Business debate on BAE Systems and the UK's defence production skills base.

Manufacturing

Following the debate on BAE Systems, Guy Opperman, Conservative MP for Hexham, moved a Backbench Business debate on the future of manufacturing.

Backbench Business Committee

The House of Commons established the Backbench Business Committee on 15 June 2010. The Committee has responsibility for scheduling debates that are devoted to backbench business in the House of Commons Chamber and Westminster Hall.

Debates

Debates are an opportunity for MPs to discuss government policy, proposed new laws and current issues. It allows MPs to voice the concerns and interests of their constituents.
