Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Mary Creagh, moved an Opposition Day debate in the House of Commons on Wednesday 26 October on the subject of environmental protection and green growth.
Environmental protection and green growth
Opposition days are days allocated in the House of Commons in each session for the discussion of subjects chosen by the Opposition. The Opposition generally uses them to raise questions of policy and administration.
The debate focused on flood defence investment, rural broadband, carbon emissions and green jobs and growth. Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Richard Benyon, responded to the debate on behalf of the Government.
