London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Bill: second reading

The London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (Amendment) Bill had its second reading – a general debate on all aspects of the Bill – on Monday 3 October
Olympians Lord Moynihan and Lord Higgins, Paralympian Baroness Grey-Thompson, former international sportswoman, Baroness Heyhoe-Flint, and Baroness Ford, chair of the Olympic Park Legacy Company, were among Members of the Lords who contributed to in the debate.

Topics discussed during the debate included:
- ticket touting and the resale of Games tickets
- the legacy of the Games for the local communities and neighbourhoods

Further information
The Bill makes a number of technical amendments to the provisions of the London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Act 2006, including traffic regulation and enforcement during the London 2012 Games and the penalty for unauthorised sales of Olympic tickets.
The Bill had its first reading in the House of Lords on 12 September.
Second reading is the first opportunity for Members of the Lords to debate the main principles and purpose of the Bill, and to flag up concerns and areas where they think changes (amendments) are needed.
