Appointment of the new Clerk of the House of Commons and Chief Executive

Robert Rogers has been appointed Clerk of the House of Commons in succession to Sir Malcolm Jack who retired on 30 September 2011. Mr Rogers becomes the forty ninth Clerk of the House of Commons since 1363.
The appointment of Mr Rogers followed an open competition and interview by a panel of senior members of the House of Commons (the Speaker, the Leader of the House of Commons, the Shadow Leader of the House of Commons, the Chair of the Finance and Services Committee, the Chairman of Ways and Means and the Chair of the Liaison Committee), along with one external member.
