Statement on eurozone crises

Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, made a statement to the House of Commons on Thursday 27 October on the recent European Council meeting to resolve the eurozone crises.
Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Rachel Reeves, responded to the statement on behalf of the Opposition.

European Council meetings
The European Council met on 23 October to resolve the eurozone crises and agreed a number of measures. The prime minister made a statement to the House of Commons on 24 October and updated MPs on the measures agreed. A second meeting took place on 26 October to resolve outstanding issues on debt. Oral statements are made after Question Time (or at 11am on a Friday). Statements normally relate to matters of policy or government actions. At the end of a statement, MPs can respond or question the government minister on its contents.
