Anne McIntosh, Conservative MP for Thirsk and Malton and Chair of the Environment, Food and Rural Affaris Committee, moved an adjournment debate in Westminster Hall on Thursday 8 September on flood and water management legislation.

Flood and water management

The debate follows the publication of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee report into Future flood and water management legislation on 22 December 2010. The Government published its response to the report on 4 April 2011.

Watch and read the debate and the views expressed by MPs on Parliament TV and in Commons Hansard. Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Environment, Food amd Rural Affairs, Richard Benyon, responded to the debate on behalf of the Government.

Westminster Hall debates

Westminster Hall adjournment debates allow MPs to discuss issues of local or personal interest which rarely have time to be debated in the main Chamber of the House of Commons. MPs can discuss a variety of issues and receive a response from a government Minister.
