MPs debate opportunities for the next generation

Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, John Denham, moved an Opposition day debate in the House of Commons on 13 September 2011 on opportunities for the next generation.
The motion in the name of John Denham was on the subject of Government cuts to public spending, university places, apprenticeships and youth unemployment and called on the Government "to take action to secure business growth to create opportunities for young people."
Minister for Universities and Science, David Willetts, responded on behalf of the Government. The House divided and the motion was negatived on division, (Ayes: 234, Noes: 297).
