The Houses of Parliament is to host free events in Cardiff and Llandudno as part of this year’s Parliament Week.

The inaugural Parliament Week, which runs from 31 October to 6 November, is an exciting new initiative that aims to build greater awareness, understanding of and engagement with parliamentary democracy.

Parliament Week is supported by the House of Commons and the House of Lords and is for everyone, exploring how democracy affects citizens and how they can participate in it.

Parliament Week in Wales: Cardiff

On Monday 31 October there will be an all day public workshop in Cardiff hosted by the UK Parliament’s Outreach Service.

The morning session will focus on the work of select committees and will be presented by members of the Welsh Affairs Committee, including the Chair, David T.C. Davies MP. In the afternoon there will also be a workshop on the UK Parliament’s scrutiny of legislation.

This event will take place at the National Museum Cardiff, Cathays Park, Cardiff, CF10 3NP, by kind permission of the President and Council of Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales.

Parliament Week in Wales: Llandudno

On Thursday 3 November, members of the Welsh Affairs Committee, including Mr Guto Bebb MP, will be presenting a half-day public workshop in Llandudno on the work of select committees within the UK Parliament.

This event will be hosted by the UK Parliament Outreach Service and will take place at the Venue Cymru, The Promenade, Llandudno, LL30 1BB.

The Committee will also be using both events as an opportunity to launch their inquiry into the Support for Armed Forces Veterans in Wales and this is a fantastic opportunity to meet members of the Committee and put your questions to them.

Members of the UK Parliament Outreach Service will also be there to help you to find out more about how the UK Parliament works and how the Welsh Affairs Committee examines matters which fall within the Secretary of State for Wales’s responsibility, including relations with the National Assembly for Wales.

Registration

If you would like to register for either of these events, please contact the Parliamentary Outreach team on 0207 219 1650 or email parliamentaryoutreach@parliament.uk.
