The Houses of Parliament is to hold six workshops for voluntary groups and individuals across Yorkshire and the Humber on how to get involved with the work of Parliament

Anyone who is interested in what goes on in their local community can come along and find out how debates, parliamentary questions and the work of select committees can help people raise local concerns and issues at a national level.

The workshops are being held as part of Parliament’s efforts to encourage more groups and individuals to engage with the work of the House of Commons and the House of Lords, and will be run by staff from the Parliamentary Outreach service.

The workshops will give simple, practical information on:

  • the work of MPs and Members of the House of Lords
  • how Parliament scrutinises the work of Government and the opportunities to get involved
  • how to access useful information on Parliament’s activities
