Parliament workshops to be held in north east England

The workshops are being held as part of Parliament’s efforts to encourage more groups and individuals to engage with the work of the House of Commons and the House of Lords. They will be run by staff from the Parliamentary Outreach service.

Anyone who is interested in what goes on in their local community can come along and find out how debates, parliamentary questions and the work of select committees can help people raise local concerns and issues at a national level.

The workshops will take place on the following dates, times and venues:

• 18 April - Darlington
  Community Fire Station, St Cuthbert’s Way, Darlington, DL1 5LR – 1.30pm to 4.30pm (registration from 1pm)
• 19 April - Berwick upon Tweed
  William Elder Building, 56-58 Castlegate, Berwick upon Tweed, TD15 1JT – 1.30pm to 4.30pm (registration from 1pm)
• 3 May - Newcastle
  MEA House, Ellison Place, Newcastle, NE1 8XS – 1.30pm to 4.30pm (registration from 1pm)

The workshops will give simple, practical information on:

• the work of MPs and Members of the House of Lords
• how Parliament scrutinises the work of Government and the opportunities to get involved
• how to access useful information on Parliament’s activities

All workshops are free and places are available on a 'first come first served' basis.
