Speaker delivers speech at the University of Cape Town

As part of his official visit to South Africa on the invitation of the Speaker of the South African National Assembly, the Hon Max Sisulu, the Speaker today delivered a speech to an audience of students and academics at the University of Cape Town.
The Speaker reflects on the differences and similarities between the speakership of the House of Commons and of the National Assembly and outlines the challenges of the traditional office of Speaker in a modern political age.
