On a recent visit to Salford, the Speaker of the House of Commons, Rt Hon John Bercow MP addressed the NHS North West 'Year of Communication' conference.

In 2008, prior to his election as Speaker, Mr Bercow undertook a review of speech, language and communication services for the Government. Mr Speaker remains committed in his interest on this subject and was delighted to attend this conference looking at the progress made on the recommendations in his review report and future challenges for this area of healthcare.

Mr Speaker provided the keynote speech, reflecting on his review and the progress made since 2008. Conference delegates included parents, early years practitioners, speech and language therapists, commissioners and voluntary service providers.
