On 17 January 2012, Parliament launched its contribution to the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. Arts in Parliament is a unique cultural programme featuring arts, heritage and media projects and will run from June to September 2012. The performances and installations will take place in and around Westminster Hall and are free to the general public to attend.

Arts in Parliament sees Parliament collaborate with professional arts organisations and artists from across the UK, bringing together a diverse range of creative projects and performances into an innovative and unique programme.

The programme uses the historic Westminster Hall as a backdrop to showcase art projects commissioned by the national Cultural Olympiad, works created especially for Arts in Parliament, as well as creative projects stemming from Parliament’s existing public engagement programmes.

Parliament has a natural role to play in a year where London, as Olympic host city, will welcome people from across the world. Arts in Parliament will contribute to the Cultural Olympiad by bringing the public into Parliament to experience a variety of artistic projects linking Parliament to the cultural fabric of the UK.
