Lord Strathclyde announced to Members an early celebration to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

The Queen will visit Parliament on Tuesday 20 March when she will be presented with addresses by both Houses of Parliament in Westminster Hall. Her Majesty will then reply to the addresses.

A simultaneous announcement was made in the House of Commons by Sir George Young

Black Rod will make the ceremonial arrangements which will mirror those for the Golden Jubilee in 2002.

The address is marked by a present to the Queen, from the MPs and Members of the Lords, which will be a stained glass panel in the north window of Westminster Hall. This will not be installed by March.

Similar addresses were made by the Queen to mark her Golden Jubilee in 2002 and Silver Jubilee in 1977.
