Estimates day debate: Work of the UK Border Agency

The debate on the funding of the Home Office and work of the UK Border Agency follows the publication of the estimates for the allocation of expenditure for Central government, including the Home Office, for the year ending 31 March 2013
Minister for Immigration, Damian Green, responded during the debate on behalf of the Government. Shadow Minister for Home Affairs, Chris Bryant responded during the debate on behalf of the Opposition.

Estimates day debate: Work of the UK Border Agency
The Home Affairs Select Committee held an inquiry into the work of the UK Border Agency and published its report on 11 April 2012. The Government Response to the Committee report was published on 2 July 2012. Further information can be found on the Home Affairs Committee webpages.

Estimate days
All public spending has to be approved by Parliament. Estimates of spending are presented to parliament and three 'estimates days' are set aside each year to debate the content of those estimates presented. In practice, estimates days are often used for debating one or more estimates or select committee reports chosen by the Liaison Committee.
