Richard Ottaway, Conservative MP for Croydon South and Chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee, moved a debate in Westminster Hall on Thursday 14 June on piracy off the coast of Somalia.

Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Henry Bellingham, responded in the debate on behalf of the Government. Watch and read the view expressed by MPs during the debate on Parliament TV and in Commons Hansard.

Foreign Affairs Committee report

The debate follows the publication by the Foreign Affairs Select Committee of a report into piracy off the coast of Somalia and the Government's Response.

Westminster Hall debates

Westminster Hall adjournment debates allow MPs to discuss issues of local or personal interest which rarely have time to be debated in the main Chamber of the House of Commons. MPs can discuss a variety of issues and receive a response from a government Minister.
