The House of Lords Information Committee discussed the annual report for 2010-11 yesterday (Tuesday 13 March).

The Information Committee Annual Report 2010-11 includes:

Work of the Information Committee

  • Information about the committee and how it aims to deliver value for money, strategy for increased access to information for members and effectively informing the public about the work of the House.

Parliamentary ICT

  • Parliamentary ICT strategy to reduce costs and increase efficiency and effectiveness provision.
  • Provision of ICT services for members, a tablet trial and improvement to online access for parliamentary documents.

Information Office

  • The duties and achievements of the Information Office's Outreach team working with schools, BBC, Lord Speaker and the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.
  • The increased demand for information from the public on the Information Office's Enquiry team.
  • The increased of reach and influence across platforms and organisations by the Information office's Press and Media Team.

Library

  • The increased demand from members on the Library service and proposals for more publications and online resources (including accessibility on mobile technologies).

Parliamentary Archives

  • Continued record management and digital preservation of Parliamentary documents.
  • Public services and outreach including mention of the 150th anniversary of the purpose built Victoria Tower.
  • Collaboration with the BBC, Channel 4 and Worldwrite (an education charity).

Bicameral public information services

  • Education Service's school visits programme, development of resources including interactive timeline, animations, mobile quiz and twitter feed.
  • Parliamentary outreach service's training sessions and workshops across the UK.
  • Visitor Services' development of training and accreditation for in-house guides and provision of Saturday opening for visitors.
  • Parliamentary Broadcasting Unit running broadcasts of the chambers and committees.
  • Web and Intranet Service's continued development and maintenance of the Parliamentary website and intranet , use of third parties sites to extend audience reach and increased cross linking to Parliamentary materials.
