Westminster Hall

Built in 1097, Westminster Hall is the oldest part of the Palace of Westminster. It survived the fire of 1834 which destroyed the original palace. Throughout its history, Westminster Hall has been used for state occasions, important ceremonies and events of national significance.

Most recently Queen Elizabeth II received loyal addresses from members of both Houses of Parliament in Westminster Hall to mark her Diamond Jubilee on 20 March.

On 5 June, as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, Westminster Hall was the venue for a lunch given by the Livery of London for the Queen marking the 60 years of her reign.
